Harvesting Insights for the Future - Engage in interactive activities and discussions to prioritize emerging areas of research and practice for climate adaptation knowledge generation that continues to build upon the existing work of the CASC Network and informs the Federal Advisory Committee, senior leaders, and researchers.

In 2021-2022, the Cross-CASC Climate Training Initiative group identified the need for additional capacity building efforts that utilized CASC science and were tailored to the local audience, context, and place. What can we learn from the capacity building approaches that have recently spun up from the different regional CASCs to help increase climate-informed decision-making moving forward?

Interactive Session: Objective 2, Breakout 4 - Evaluation: Efficacy of Adaptation Options
Tuesday November 19, 2024 3:00pm - 4:30pm PST
Engage in interactive activities and discussions to prioritize emerging areas of research and practice for climate adaptation knowledge generation that continues to build upon the existing work of the CASC Network and informs the Federal Advisory Committee, senior leaders, and researchers.

As practitioners implement strategies that are designed to build resilience and support adaptation of plants, animals, water, lands and people to climate change, there has been little research on whether those actions are achieving desired outcomes. What role should the CASCs play in building out this nascent field of science, and how might we get started?

Interactive Session: Objective 2, Breakout 5 - Interweaving Indigenous Knowledges and Practices

Incorporating Indigenous Knowledges (IK) and practices into natural resource management has gained momentum at all levels of management, including federal, state, and local levels, and is increasingly promoted as a more holistic perspective. However, what remains uncertain is what IK means to these different agencies and groups because not only is IK a different world view, it is also a different value view.
